cUL & DLC Certifications
What does cUL certified mean?
Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) is an independent product safety testing, certification and inspection organization. We have tested products for public safety for 90 years and we are accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
ULC is a key architect of the Canadian National Safety System, administered by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). ULC’s time-tested system supports governmental product safety regulations, and it complements federal, provincial, and municipal public safety initiatives. ULC also works with other governments and international safety systems to help further international trade with adherence to local and international safety requirements.
ULC evaluates a broad range of products, components, materials and systems for compliance to specific requirements. Today, ULC helps companies bring safer products to Canadian and global marketplaces.
What does DLC certified mean?
The DLC’s mission is to raise awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. A light product that meets their requirements can be added to their Qualified Products List and promoted as such. It is an alternative or a complement to the Energy Star program that covers characteristics and features specific to Solid State Lighting technologies.
